Our Mission
BUY LESS. LOVE LONGER. PASS IT DOWN.
Why does buying fewer children’s clothes matter?
The fashion industry produces enormous amounts of textile waste each year. Children also outgrow clothing incredibly quickly, meaning perfectly good pieces can have a very short useful life. Our goal is simple: help one great outfit do more.
How does Biblette™ help families buy less?
Instead of buying a completely new outfit for every holiday, birthday, portrait or occasion, a Biblette can transform a simple dress or top. One base. Many looks.
Can interchangeable collars actually save money?
That’s the idea. Rather than purchasing several complete special-occasion outfits, families can invest in dependable basics and change the smaller, less expensive piece that gives the outfit its personality.
What about hand-me-downs?
We LOVE them. Keeping personalization on a removable Biblette instead of permanently embroidering the garment means the clothing underneath can more easily be passed from sibling to sibling, cousin to cousin—or friend to friend.
What does “buy less, love longer” mean to Whimsie Todd?
We want children’s clothing to have more wears, more memories and more lives. A favorite dress can be everyday today, birthday tomorrow, picture-day next month—and eventually become someone else’s favorite dress, too.
The Problem We Are Solving
92 MILLION TONS
of textile waste are generated worldwide every year.
9.1 MILLION TONS
of clothing and footwear were sent to U.S. landfills in the EPA’s most recent comprehensive dataset.
ONLY 13%
of U.S. clothing and footwear reaching end-of-life was recycled in that same EPA dataset.
36% LESS WEAR
Clothing production doubled between 2000–2015 while the average number of times garments were worn before being discarded fell by about 36%.
2,700 LITERS OF WATER
can be required to produce one cotton T-shirt—roughly one person’s drinking water for 2.5 years.
What if instead of needing another outfit, we simply gave the one they already have another life?
