Whimsie Todd exists to create seasonless heirloom clothing for real childhood.
We believe children’s clothing should be timeless, durable, and beautiful enough to wear every day — not just for one holiday or season. Our pieces are designed to be lived in, loved hard, passed down, and woven into the memories that matter most.
At its heart, Whimsie Todd is about preserving the magic of childhood through thoughtful design, storytelling, and timeless style.
Hi friends! Chelsea here.
Before I became a children’s clothing designer, I was just a girl who desperately wanted to be a Mom. When I found out I was pregnant with twin girls, something in me shifted. I suddenly noticed every tiny dress, every bonnet, every smocked detail. I fell headfirst into the world of children’s clothing — not because I understood fashion, but because I loved my babies so much it changed what I saw. At the time, I didn’t know the difference between poplin and linen. I didn’t know what “smocked” meant. I just knew I wanted my girls to feel beautiful, loved, timeless, and little for as long as possible.
As a photographer, I spent years documenting families, newborns, motherhood, and childhood. And somewhere along the way, I realized something: the clothing I loved most wasn’t trendy or seasonal. It was timeless. That became the beginning of Whimsie Todd.
I created Whimsie Todd because I was tired of children’s clothing feeling disposable — dresses made for one holiday, one season, one photo, and then forgotten forever in a storage bin. I wanted pieces that could live beyond a calendar month. Pieces that could be worn in June, December, handed down to siblings, washed a hundred times, and still feel beautiful.
So that’s what we’re creating here: seasonless heirlooms for real childhood.
Beautiful. Durable. Soft. Playable. Bleachable. Dryable. Made to actually be lived in.
Whimsie Todd is for the mothers who want clothing that feels classic without feeling precious. For the families who care more about memories than trends. For the babies who are busy being children — not tiny mannequins for holiday marketing campaigns.
Thank you for being here this early. Truly. ♡
the story behind the brand
Whimsie Todd actually began as a children’s book idea long before it became a clothing brand.
As a child, Chelsea was constantly creating — painting, crafting, dressing up, writing stories, sewing with her grandmother, and turning ordinary moments into imaginative little worlds. That love for nostalgia, whimsy, and childhood wonder eventually carried into motherhood and a growing fascination with children’s fashion.
After having twin girls, Chelsea began sketching clothing ideas of her own. What started as simple concepts slowly evolved over years of editing, redesigning, altering tech packs, changing fabrics, and refining the vision behind the brand. Along the way, she realized Whimsie Todd was never meant to be trendy or overly seasonal. It was meant to feel timeless.
Today, Whimsie Todd blends storytelling, imagination, and heirloom design into seasonless pieces made to be worn, loved, played in, and passed down.
generations of love
Everything I know about sewing, I learned from my Grandma Bonnie.
Bonnie Ellen Bunch! My family is full of strong, entrepreneurial women and my grandmother has always been a huge supporter of my ideas, projects, brands, and businesses. She was a salon shop owner herself and whatever crazy business skills she had trickled into every female cousin and aunt that I have. My grandmother likes to brag about how no one thinks she is as old as she is. I love her sass & personality and I will always be trying to emulate her love for people and Jesus in Whimsie Todd as well.
One of my favorite things to do is shop with my Mama. It’s something that we find connects us. I’ve always been a shop-in-person type and so it was important that I get Whimsie Todd into boutiques around the globe. Not only are boutiques also small businesses" that help little communities, they allow gift-givers to put their hands on the fabric and feel it before they invest. It allows them to see the beauty of the prints and fall in love — in person!
